In Memory
The Cavs lost former defensive end Ljubomir Stamenich on the 18th to leukemia. Tough to lose one of your own, tougher when he's that young, and toughest to be friends with people who were personally touched by his life. You're all in my prayers...

Wow, Lub died. I had no idea. Lub (that was his nickname, don't ask me) played for Langley, our rival high school. He was a tough opponent, we were lucky to be good enough to contain him, but I saw him rip other teams to shreds.
Tough competitor, which for someone who didn't know him personally, is the best compliment you can give.
Rest in peace.

Anon 9:06... what precisely are you questioning?

Yes anon, we contained him. By we, I mean the team I was on, it certainly wasn't me out there doing it.
We were lucky enough to have 5-6 guys who wound up playing D-1 Football, if it had been one of our usual teams, Lub would have killed us. Luckiliy, we had a two guys who wound up playing O-Line at Stanford and Hampden-Sydney, and skill players who got full rides to Duke, Marshall and Bowie State.
In other words, it was the only time our school made regionals/states ever, and it was good timing. Lub was still a beast, but we had the right people to match up with him.

I can't believe Lube is gone. The article was quite touching. I hope he has finally found the peace and happiness he was striving for.
