Controversy Thursday: Ban Soy

I've always been under the impression that homosexuality is not a choice, but a genetic composition; in much the same way a person is born athletic, or intelligent, or black. There is nothing one can do to change her sexual preference, whether or not society deems that preference deviant or acceptable.

Thank goodness this guy has so scientifically and convincingly persuaded me of the errors in my thinking...

I had wondered why everytime I ate tofu I didn't want to have sex with my girlfriend. Oh wait, yes I did.

New clinical proof is coming out that drinking too much Molson's will make you Canadian.

Clinically, on a biological level, it's well known in developmental biology that exposure to too much or too little of any of the major sex hormones at crucial times in the development cycle can indeed have profound effects on the subsequent embryo. This is well known thoughout the animal kingdom, where in some fishes, reptiles and amphibians severe detrimental developmental effects are documented from exogenous sources of estrogens in common pollutants. This is where this notion comes from, and truth be told, no one really knows. But the 'plastics' revolution is a common issue here too, and this was the topic of a 'Harper's' piece just this month. One isn't born intelligent, just had to point that out - perhaps wisdom comes from genetics, but intelligence is gathered.

Why can soy make you gay. Esp. when Cialis can turn the average man into a sexual god!!!!

Wow, eating soy can shrink your penis? I'd better cancel my order with Hunan Express. As long as he was going to say that, how could he not mention the obvious stereotype of asian men, and link it to their diet?

I don't agree with what this guy is writing, but I will say that from personal experience, I couldn't refute him. I only know one person in my life who eats/drinks soy products on a regular basis...and well, he's not what I would describe as heterosexually inclined.

I'm as gay as they come and I hate anything green. Edamame, et. al. So he can suck it.

Besides everyone knows that an overbearing mother makes you gay. Duh.

I'm a bit late to this, but I wanted to chime in and say in my first three years of life I was allergic to nearly everything and soy was about all they fed me. I'm straight and there is no
"shrinkage," or whatever the hell that guy wrote. This columninist could not be serious, could he?

Your blog is interesting, but don't you think the black statement is racist? Why is that that when discussing homosexuality that people often state that it is like being black..you are born that way. Why not sat Asian, Irish, Mexican. Why is it always black? The answer is simple...deep down inside you think that there is something inherently wrong with black people. I was raised to in a libereal manner and am not one to call people out on race issues. So it is not a matter of over sensitivity.

No, it's not racist. It just happened to be the first thing that came to mind. Perhaps I should have said Canadian? Because Lord knows those Canucks were born a little slow, eh?

I've written other posts in which I've used other races as titular examples to prove my point.

Your argument that I think there's something wrong with black people is ludicrous. If I did I wouldn't a) be friends with them or b) date them.

Sorry, my anonymous friend, but liberal or not, in this case your comment IS a matter of over-sensitivity.
