Verbose

I love lawyers. I just read a brief in which the words blunderbuss, gravaman, obfuscate and dilatory appeared on the first page.

Okay, so I used the word obfuscate the other day myself. I believe that proves my point...

    "Blunderbuss"??????

This must be the greatest lawsuit on earth, if only because it involves weaponry commonly used by pirates.

I was going to ask which definition of blunderbuss was used... Phil covered one. The other, describing a person, isn't nearly as entertaining.

It's probably someone fresh outta school trying to prove how smart he is.

If you want to mess with him, tell him that he mis-spelled a couple of the words, but don't tell him which ones. Make it cryptic like "next time you are going to use your SAT review words, you should run a spell-check first."

Good lawyers don't need to prove how smart they are by using unnecessarily complicated language. My boss, who is one of the best attorneys I've ever worked with, is a master of simplicity.

However, I, too, am curious how "blunderbuss" came up.

You've got to go back and explain the blunderbuss. I have to admit that's the first thing that jumped out at me. Who's in this lawsuit? Rip Van Winkle?

    *swoon*

I love a man with a big vocabulary.

Of course, you don't specify gender. Could have been a female attorney.

I would like to ask you all what makes you think the lawyer to whom I'm referring is a male??

Because your brains are a third the size of a mans. It's science.

When I was studying for the GRE's I developed a vocabulary akin to the thesaurus. Though now I only know the meaning to like four of the words that I had studied, but I feel awesome every time I use 'lugubrious' correctly.
