Skillz, Gosh!
When I have kids, I'm going to strongly encourage them, from an early age, to learn/participate in/appreciate the following:
- Ice skating,
- Gymnastics,
- Hip-hop dancing,
- Basketball,
- Autoshop,
- Math league,
- Foreign language(s),
- Swimming,
- Adventuresome eating (and eventually wine-tasting),
- Card counting and poker-face betting,
- Piano and musical theory,
- Chess,
- Choir,
- Anything Canadian.
I'll probably end up with a mini-van and a resentful brood of little ones. But they'll thank me in the end.

I suspect my kids, if they're anything like me, will be into vodka tasting, bourbon tasting, champagne tasting, martini tasting...

dcb, i'm thinkin she means more like "darren's dance grooves".
i'd have to say that's a pretty well rounded list. my parents pretty much had me doing all of that (except gymnastics... but i appreciate gymnasts) and my gramps taught me to card count at a very young age. i think i was 5 or 6 the first time i accurately counted a deck. you should add scotch tasting to the wine tasting. it's a good social skill, and compounds the wine knowledge. heh. wow, i am rambling aren't i?

Um...why did my comment paste above the other one (to which I was responding)? Bizarre...

It's all about what time your computer thinks it is, I believe. It's happened to me a couple of times.
What about tetherball skillz?

Shoot - I forgot about jump rope skills! Have I ever mentioned I used to be on a competitive jump rope team? It's a very fun party favour.

I think I did half the things on that list - and look how I turned out!
I mean, um....

Wow, I would have hated you. I have either not tried or failed at many things on your list:
Ice Skating
Gymnastics
Basketball
Foreign Languages
Piano
Those were the failures, I never got into Hip Hop Dancing, Autoshop, or Canadien stuff. I will play poker, eat, and can play a mean game of chess.
You should modify your list to include Baseball, Football, Advanced Fashion Design (with a concentration in Playaz Wear) and pro-level heckling. Every child should know how to heckle someone who is screwing up.

Not a bad list. It actually makes me think maybe I'll have kids one day...
And that is a lot coming from me.

Are you leaving any time in there for your breakdown from chauffering them to all of these activities? LMAO

Or they'll all be on Prozac/Zoloft/Ritalin in the end. Be prepared for your kids not to care one bit about most of the list.

Just don't overprogram them. I look back and realize that in our effort to expose our children to a multitude of things, we didn't give them enough down time. I'm no example, but I think learning to relax is one of the best skills we can teach children these days!

Don't forget Dungeons & Dragons. Clearly the ability to play D&D gives a +1 to Charisma.

Cookie, relax with the kids thing, you'll make the charming fellow nervous :-)

LOL - it's possible there's a temporary hormonal reason for all this kiddie talk. Charming Fellow is very aware and knows he has nothing to fear.
Drunken debauchery posts to continue on Monday.

I love you Cookie! If I could do it all over again, I'd be your kid!
(But not to worry, I'll always be your boo.)
