Chow Down

There I was at Bob and Edith's for a little late night snack on Friday evening. I chose as wisely as possible to fulfill both my nutrition and post-alcohol grease requirements. An egg on whole-wheat toast and some grits with cheese (plus a few long sips of Charming Fellow's chocolate milkshake...does it count if I don't actually order it?).

Before our food arrived, our server and another runner brought 6 plates to the table to our right. Fried chicken, hash browns, pancakes, chili, french fries, bacon, eggs, sausage... 6 plates. For two people. Both of whom could not have weighed less than 300 pounds. My arteries started to ache just watching the cholesterol ingestion.

Sue me if this is an awful thought, but I looked over at Charming Fellow and said "I promise that will never be me..." And then I went running first thing in the morning.

I hate to nitpick, but I count three animals... (I assume the chili was beef)

Homer: Are you saying you're never going to eat any animal again? What about bacon?
    Lisa: No.
    Homer: Ham?
    Lisa: No.
    Homer: Pork chops?
Lisa: Dad, those all come from the same animal.
Homer: Heh heh heh. Ooh, yeah, right, Lisa. A wonderful, magical animal.

I won't lie my roomie and I went to Silver Diner once...I ate 3 pancakes, bacon, hash browns, and eggs....she ate a brownie sunday and we split fries. OK, so we didn't eat ALL the food. But...yeah.

Of course, I am a fatass like that. :)

Do all women long to share their man's meal/drink?

This has always bothered me. It is not that I am not a generous person. In fact, to the contrary. My wife claims I am greedy and not generous when I do not wish to share. I argue that I am willing to buy her her very own of whatever it is she wants from em! How is that not generous?

I know exactly how much food/drink I wish to consume when I order something. If a portion of that is taken away, it offsets the balance. She insists she does not want any of what I am getting, yet inevitably, she will want it when I have it.

    Why is this?

Trust me, I've eaten like that many times before myself. But those are not every day occurrences. In this case, I think the people eat like that three times a day.

I hear you about the running! i eat a cookie at work, I am taking the stairs down and up until i think i have burned it off!!! I have the slowest metabolism on earth. I just witnessed a co-worker who weighs about 95 lbs eat a double whopper w/cheese. I had a milkshake a couple of her fries, my milkshake will take months to metabolize!

Wiz's comment is from my favorite episode of the Simpsons.

Cookie: Here's to hoping that you don't get any hate mail on this post. I say one little thing about weight issues and oh lord. Lookout Velvet email in box...

Meh. I don't get that either. I certainly wouldn't be able to do it or witness it on a daily basis.

And to answer Phil, it just tastes better off someone else's plate.
