Important Challenge, Eh?

I challenge my readers, without the assistance of the Google, to name at least one of these men, identified here by photograph only. If you can tell me why I would post these photos today, you win additional points. If you can name all five men, again without the assistance of a web search tool, please know that you are someone I hold in very high regard**.

PM candidate 1

pm candidate 2

pm candidate 3

pm candidate 4

pm candidate 5

**(If you have to use an on-line search engine, that's okay; because I had to as well. If you didn't, however, it's quite possible that you're my soulmate).

Well then...Candidates for elections to Canada's House of Commons: PM Paul Martin, Stephen Harper, Jack Layton, Gilles Duceppe and God knows who the last one is...looks like an aging rugby player.

I would like to name #4, the one with creepy blue eyes "Heinrich."

Wait, that's not what you meant?

I'm sure it has something to do with Canada. If I further deduce from your flickr tags, I'd presume they are running for some sort of office.

The first thing I thought when viewing "heinrich" was "the Evil Canadian version of Judge Wapner".

The "Eh" in your title gave something away... I would have guessed politically important Canadians, do I get half-credit?

The election-result-watching party is tonight at Elephant and Castle, hosted by the Canadian Embassy. If I didn't have to work late.

RT - the last guy is Jim Harris.

Oh, and leave it to Canada to have 23 candidates from the Marijuana party running in the election.

I recognized the first 2, but only because of The Daily Show's coverage of the Canadian PM candidate debates. It was funny stuff!

Ha ha, I know who they are (except that I had to ask Fred what some of their names were). At least I (almost) knew what parties they represent!

Are there any Latinos in Canada?

When I was there last, tourists were asking to take pictures with me.

I blended as well as someone named "Pablo" would at the Congressional Country Club.

Five people I haven't slept with. And you're mentioning it because it's amazing anyone can find five people I haven't slept with.

    Good guess?

Don't I often see the last guy on T.V, asking me to call his 800 number in case of an auto accident. He says I'm entitled to personal injury compensation.

Huge population in Toronto. I asked my brother-in-law the same question. He's from T-dot.

I was late in getting here, but I got the top 2 straight away, and knew vaguely the other 2. I knew it was going to end pretty inconclusively, and so be disappointing to most people, hence I avoided the 'parties'. At least you don't have to explain how Martin blew a 20 point lead from 2 months out, or that Harper owes his soul to some crafty GOP aparatchicks who have been working with him for years. It's going to be fun to see him nesting with the Bloc. Cheers, 'VJ'

And the winner is... Stephen Harper (#2).

HS - I can't vote. Despite my citizenship, I don't have a Canadian residence (and I'm not an expat), so I'm banned from the polls.

Day-um... ah well, voting, no voting... our entire area went Red while the rest of the non-urban areas seemed to have been painted blue.

*shrug* We be purple Can-eh-di-ans now... ;)

As for the voting requirements... all it seemed to need was a piece of ID with picture, address and signature... ;)

I'm still waiting for a systematic voting mechanism as opposed to elections at teh drop of a hat (or writ).

    The "Independent Party Platform"

National elections every four years (00, 04, 08, etc)

Provincial elections (nationwide) every four years (alternating)
    (02, 06, 10, etc)

    Civic elections every three years.

    ;)
