I made a full set of trading cards for my mom's side of the family one Christmas. It was an absolute riot. We sat around the table Christmas morning and laughed our asses off.

We also have a bunch of these at work for some of our directors (those with a good sense of humour). They make a great party gag.

Why don't they have a site where you can get your Jimmy Choo name, or your Manolo name? Spiked Steel Sizzle.

Wait, wait, was this high school or college. Cos, if it was college, and it was north myrtle, then I might have been there. The old Butt Pirate's Cove, perhaps?

  • At September 09, 2005 1:43 PM, Blogger Kathryn Is So Over said…

    What are you talking about?

In my day, there were only two options at Myrtle:

Spanish G (where you drank quarter drafts until it closed)
Crazy Geeks (where you went after for two hours for sh-t-faced dancing)

    Good times.

We hung out at the Pirate's Cove b/c it was cheaper (and sleazier) than the Spanish G. I'm not familiar with Crazy Geeks - there was another place, Zack's or something like that, that closed after my first year. Most of the wet t contests were at Pirate's Cove (which was referred to as Butt Pirate's).

I think a good idea for a new blog would be myrtlestories.com, where Virginians et al. submit their stories from beach week. If I weren't so lazy, I would start it.

  • At September 09, 2005 2:03 PM, Blogger DC Cookie said…

Oh god - yes, it was Pirate's Cove. Did you go down your 3rd year too? If so, you saw me. The rest, I'm prepared to discuss offline only.

We called Crazy Zack's Crazy Geeks.

I am so old. But I have plenty of Myrtle stories.

This is FEMA. You need to fix your blog template.

Failure to do so will result in a FEMA intervention... in about 20 years. We just cant mobilize a response, you know. We're kinda retarded.

  • At September 09, 2005 2:15 PM, Blogger DC Cookie said…

Perhaps FEMA owns the rights to Blogger??

I'm hoping it will auto-correct in a few days. My template doesn't seem to have any issues.

    Thank you!

Thanks also to my parents for shelling out 5 grand to straighten my teeth so I don't fear a camera (quite the opposite now, I'm afraid).

I went down every year, and then once again in law school. Beach week is my faves.

It is quite likely that I was in the same room with you and your wet tshirt. Although, that year I ended up hooking up with some sluttly wake forest girl for most of the week, so I might not have been at the bar.

    Great picture..you're so cute!

Hey, I know Ludacris from my days in Atlanta. I could try and wrangle a meeting for you. Although, he would probably come up to your navel 'cause he is super short! (don't tell him I said that)

Not sure I like Luda because of his looks so much. It's more of a personality thing. His videos are hilarious. HELL YES! I'd love to meet the guy. Just watched Crash yesterday. He was really good.

Oh my gosh! I watched Crash last night as well.
I am planning on blogging about it.
It is one of the most honest and profound movies I have ever seen.
It was well written and beautifully acted.
The movie is rich, moving and carries a lot of depth. It left me speechless (which is a rare).

  • At September 09, 2005 3:25 PM, Blogger DC Cookie said…

I agree. Best movie of '05. I couldn't look away from the screen.

Crash was hot. It came out in 04 though, not 05.

For some strange reason it's remained somewhat 'underground' for the best part of 6 months to a year.

  • At September 09, 2005 3:40 PM, Blogger DC Cookie said…

    Hmm...best...video release of '05?

  • At September 09, 2005 3:54 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said…

It is a damn good movie whether it came out in 2004 or 2005...it should be a requirement for all.

Cookie, Have you ever seen the 1996 "CRASH" ? (Cronenberg directing)

If not, you should definitely check it out. Pretty intense stuff.

I haven't. I'll throw it on my Blockbuster queue. Thx!

If you've seen Crash, you saw the guy who then starred in Hustle & Flow (Terrance...something?)..anyway this guy is the Next Big Thing. Awesome in H&F. I highly recommend it.

Personally, I think Bush is somehow responsible for your f'ed up blog. ;)

    Sean - that's 5 G's in Canadian dollars, don't forget.

And yes, I've had a crush on Terrance Howard since he was in Mr. Holland's Opus. He's the man!

was just down in the Carolina's(dad lives on the beach in southern NC). I went through N. Myrtle to retrace my drunken youth. Drove by Spanish Galleon it is still there, bigger then ever. Crazy Zack's is gone,.. or my brain cell that remembered where it was got inilated during that period. Anyway, I too had good times there in the early-mid 90's. But it really has changed, lots of high rise condos now

If he was in Mr. Holland's Opus, his "Next big thing" time passed awhile ago.

Cookie, as much as we love looking at your picture, you're slacking. You're one of those people I count on for daily updates to help pass the day. I'm a little disappointed in you, miss.
