As a follow up to my post on July 25th, I believe that's me in the sea of people at the bottom of the link.

Was at number 1 too. A few minutes after that picture was taken, the goal post almost hit me in the head as it came across the field. Good thing some said, "DUCK!" Ouch, that woulda hurt. And what is this rule that talking about UVA football opens up Hokie comments?? I hate that. As someone who grew up 30 minutes from Tech, may I remind Hokies that they've only been good in football for about 10 years now. Talk to me in about 30 years when and if you build a legacy. Cav sports have always been in the media, Hokies are just learning how it feels to get some news. BURN!

Sorry. Didn't read the comment above mine before I posted, Mister Gutless Anonymous Commenter.

You sure the pole didn't hit you in the head? Maybe just a graze? Something had to happen to get you talking that goofy.

Listen, I'm not going to get up on the Tech high horse. It's passe. I'll admit that Tech is the home of a bunch of cow tippin', cousin fucking, illiterate rednecks if you admit that UVA is the home of a bunch of feckless, pretentious, stuck up, pot smoking asswipes.

Now that we've gotten that out of the way, let's get down to brass tacks:

Last time I checked UVA really hasn't done jack shit with athletics. Sure, you guys win a couple of games a year and it's a big-to-do in Hoo-ville when you play some top tier teams (and lose), but nationally you guys aren't a factor.

So considering that Beamer's done a consistently good job at Tech since approximately 1992 (2-8-1: I was there), and the team is looking better and better every year, I'd say that we have more of a claim to a "legacy" than Welsh or Groh has ever come close to.

Like I said, the proof's in the pudding. I think the whole talking smack about college football is pretty juvenile, but sometimes you can't let asinine statements like yours stand without putting them in context.

We'll agree to disagree until November 19th. Mark it on your calender, True Believer.

Is it blasphemous as a Hoo to agree with you?

    To: j. jonah jinxy, jr.

You got us on that "upside-down scissor u" comment last week. Nice burn. Can we talk about logos and mascots for a second though: Cavaliers vs. Hokies?

    Per the Dictionary:

    cav·a·lier
    noun
    1) A gallant or chivalrous man, especially one serving as escort to a woman of high social position; a gentleman.
    2) A mounted soldier; a knight.

    adjective
    1) Showing arrogant or offhand disregard; dismissive: a cavalier attitude toward the suffering of others.
    2) Carefree and nonchalant; jaunty.

    Hokie

    adjective
Definition: corny and contrived, fake and melodramatic, insincerely emotional

    noun
    Definition: an emasculated turkey

So let's see, put that together and that leaves us with a jackass knight and a corny turkey with no testicles. Which sounds better to you? I'm gonna go with the jackass cause a turkey with no sack is just a horrible name for a sports team no matter how you swing it (no pun intended). 2ND DEGREE BURN!

P.S. - Doing the hokie pokey at a football game is about as lame as it gets. C'mon!

If Hokie is emasculated, how can he pokey?

    Oh, God.

    It's started: The mascot comparisons.

    Whatever you want, dude.

Just stop talking about the turkeys.

Oh really? The UVA lacrosse team won the national championship two years the year before last (and another one in '99). The women's team won it all last year. The men's soccer team has won 4 titles in the last decade (or so). Not to mention national rankings in football, basketball, baseball, lacrosse, and soccer. I think that's doing something.

Please tell me you didn't just use 'lacrosse' to validate Uva's athletic accomplishments..

What about women's club volleyball? ;-)

Cookie, I will admit I am a complete chauvanist when it comes to women's athletics. I don't want to hear anything about women's championships if one is trying to pump up their alma mater's athletic feats. It simply doesn't do anything for me.

Of course, God gave me twin girls as punishment for this line of thinking. I think I could really get into women's volleyball, actually.
